I’m Shabnam Rinth.

I was born in Mombasa. I spent twenty years in the British travel industry — Page & Moy, Hogg Robinson, Thomas Cook, and a spell with the Accor group working with independent agents. I still travel to Kenya most years, where I have family.

I started Nzurie because I wanted to plan trips the way I would want my own planned: honestly, in detail, and by one person who answers the phone.

I am not going to tell you Nzurie is a large company. It is me, and a small number of ground partners I have chosen carefully. That is the whole point — you will not be handed between account managers, and the person who plans your trip is the person who answers when something needs sorting out.

Honest advice, even when it costs us the sale

We will tell you when a lodge is not worth what it costs, when your dates are wrong, and when the trip you have described will not do what you are hoping it will. Sometimes that ends the conversation. We would still rather say it.

The details other people skip

Transfer times. Which side of the aircraft. Whether the room you have been quoted actually has the view. Whether the “short walk to the beach” is short in February. These are the things that decide whether a holiday works.

Putting it right

Things go wrong in travel. What matters is what happens next. Under the Package Travel Regulations we are the organiser of your holiday, which means the responsibility is legally ours, not yours to chase with a supplier in another time zone.

Every payment you make towards a package is held in a UK trust account through Protected Trust Services, and is not released to suppliers until you have travelled. If Nzurie were to cease trading, your money would be returned to you. That is not a promise we make — it is how the trust account is structured.

We act as organiser under the UK Package Travel Regulations.
